Detached stucco house with a recessed timber entry, pale paver path, lawn, and sculptural palm.

Osprey Point's Grocery Run Just Got Its Anchor Back

Drive south on Airport-Pulling Road past the Pelican Marsh gates and the corner at Pine Ridge Road looks different than it did in the spring. The stucco has traded its old warm barrel-tile palette for gray and white. New monument signs at both entrances now read Sprouts in block letters, with Golf Galaxy stacked below it. The building itself has not moved. What is inside it has changed twice in one year, and the reason that matters has less to do with retail trivia and more to do with what this corner has actually offered Osprey Point households for the last three decades.

The plaza's missing grocery decade

Ridgeport Plaza opened in the late 1980s with a Winn-Dixie anchoring the space. That grocery store stayed until 1995, when it was replaced by a Bed Bath & Beyond, and the Winn-Dixie itself relocated across the street to Carillon Place, a site that today houses a Walmart Neighborhood Market. From 1995 until Bed Bath & Beyond's national closures a few years ago, the plaza at Airport-Pulling and Pine Ridge had no grocery tenant at all. Anyone in Osprey Point who wanted to buy food without crossing the intersection has been doing it for roughly thirty years.

That changed on May 15, 2026, when Sprouts Farmers Market opened a 24,491-square-foot store inside the old Bed Bath & Beyond footprint. It is the chain's second Collier County location, following the original Sprouts that opened in 2019 at Logan Landings on Logan Boulevard and Immokalee Road, a store roughly 5,000 square feet larger than this one. The new location did not need the entire vacated big box, which is why the building now has a second tenant.

Two tenants, one building

Golf Galaxy's relocated Performance Center opened September 6, 2026, sharing the same structure as Sprouts. The chain moved less than half a mile south from its old freestanding building at the Promenade at Naples Centre, and the new inline space runs 20,780 square feet, more than 40 percent smaller than the 35,355-square-foot store it left behind. Dick's Sporting Goods, which owns Golf Galaxy, kept the features that make the format work for a golf-heavy market like this one: hitting bays, simulators, a putting green, and PGA and LPGA-certified staff for fittings and lessons, all inside a footprint less than two-thirds the size of the old store.

Tenant Opened Square footage Previous location
Sprouts Farmers Market May 15, 2026 24,491 sq ft New to Ridgeport Plaza
Golf Galaxy Performance Center Sept. 6, 2026 20,780 sq ft Promenade at Naples Centre (35,355 sq ft)

The combined footprint of both stores is smaller than the original big box, which tracks with a pattern showing up across national retail: large anchors get split into two mid-size formats instead of waiting for one tenant to lease the whole thing. For this corner specifically, it means the empty decade is over and the replacement came in two pieces rather than one.

What filled in around the anchor

The rest of Ridgeport Plaza has been filling in on a similar timeline. Max's Natural Pet Market & Salon, a Florida-based chain with a location near Topgolf in Fort Myers, built out a unit at 5327 Airport-Pulling Road, in a storefront that had been home to Before & After Salon & Spa for years. That opening was the brand's sixth regional location.

A few doors down, Sterilecare Naples LLC leased a 1,520-square-foot space at 5413 Airport-Pulling Road for a future Purewell Pharmacy, a compound pharmacy that will sit next to the existing Neapolitan Gourmet Italian Market & Deli. And at 5475 Airport-Pulling Road, between the McDonald's drive-thru and a Firestone Complete Auto Care, Sanitas Medical Center has been building a 4,780-square-foot clinic, one of nearly 70 Sanitas locations across Florida and a handful more in Tennessee.

None of these are headline-grabbing on their own. Put together, they turn one intersection into a stop for groceries, golf equipment, pet care, a specialty pharmacy, and primary care within the same parking lot.

The drive that got shorter

For a household inside Osprey Point, the practical version of this story is about the errand loop, not the individual stores. The plaza sits a straight shot south on Airport-Pulling Road, past the Vanderbilt Beach Road intersection, at Pine Ridge Road. Before this year, a full grocery run from that address meant either crossing to the Walmart Neighborhood Market at Carillon Place, on the same corner but the opposite side of the street, or continuing north to the original Sprouts near Logan Boulevard. Now the same-side option exists again, in the same footprint that held the neighborhood's last full grocery store back when Bill Clinton was in his first term.

The corner draws real traffic to support that mix. Ridgeport Plaza's leasing materials list an average annualized daily traffic count above 51,900 vehicles through the intersection, which is part of why national retailers keep choosing this specific address over other North Naples locations. That volume is also why the plaza's owner, Continental Realty Corporation, has kept investing in the property's exterior rather than letting a single vacant anchor sit empty for another decade.

A corner still settling in

Not everything at Ridgeport Plaza has finished moving. Sanitas Medical Center's build-out was still in progress as of last fall, with an opening targeted for later this year, so it is worth checking current status before planning around it. The rest of the plaza's longer-standing tenants, including Mattress Firm, Skillets, and Einstein Bagels, are still in place and unaffected by the anchor swap.

What has already landed is enough to change the shape of a weekly errand run for anyone whose front gate sits along this stretch of Airport-Pulling Road. A grocery store returned to a building that spent thirty years without one, a national golf retailer moved in next door at less than two-thirds its old size, and three smaller businesses filled in the gaps around them within the same twelve months. That is a different corner than the one that sat there in April.
